Time to do another job

Very early Wednesday morning, I am awakened from my bed.
I try my best not to remember the events from last night.
The screams of those men dying will not leave my head.
The voices are the screams of the men killed during the firefight.

The captain walked in our tent a few minutes later.
I hurriedly saluted him as he walked across the floor.
The assignment I am given is to eliminate this evil dictator.
This is exactly the type of job I am specially trained for.

The captain said, ‘By doing this the war will be quickly won.’
Your country needs you to kill the leader of Amanastan.
However, this assignment must be very covertly done.
Jose` Rivera is a very well-protected and respected man.

Outside the camp, the mountains surrounded me on every side.
I climbed down one canyon and then scaled up another.
Later, I found an empty cave that made a good place to hide.
When darkness returned, I continue to travel a little further.

The U.S. Army Ranger made it to the palace three nights later.
Skillfully, I positioned myself high up in a grove of oak trees.
I watched as the doctor arrives to examining the dictator.
He will do physicals on the dictator, the soldiers and their families.

Patiently, I waited as the moonlight continued to shine.
I silently sat perched unseen in the branches of the tree.
I looked through my night scope seeking what I could find.
I wondered where the location of the dictator could be.

From the safety of the tree, I searched the palace with care.
I looked through every window my scope would let me see
Finally, I spotted the dictator slowly walking up the stairs.
He was followed by the doctor and some members of his family.

The old doctor was the last person to come up the stairs.
First, he examined a new born baby and the mother, too.
He treated each family member gently with loving care.
The dictator was the last patient the doctor chose to do.

Carefully, the doctor puts the scope to his chest.
Then he asked the dictator to stand on a scale to record his weight.
Next, the dictator is administered a blood pressure test.
Later, the doctor gave him a pill from his bag to take.

The dictator lifted the glass of water to take the pill.
He waited for the point of needle his skin to prick.
I took the shot from the oak tree on top of a distant hill.
I watched the dictator’s head drop right after the bullet hit.

Quickly to the base camp, the U.S. Army Ranger must run.
Another covert assignment has been skillfully done.
The dictator has been shot by a bullet send from my gun.
At this point, this war should have been very easily won.
