On the verge of war
The transport plane landed roughly on the base airstrip.
When I stepped off the plane the platoon leader was there to meet me.
The captain wanted to immediately debrief me about my last covert ops trip.
After I am finished, I was told to see the promotions committee.
Later that month, I joyfully told the waitress to refill my glass.
My men of my unit cheerfully lifted their glasses in the air.
Tonight, we were celebrating my promotion to sergeant first class.
Suddenly, I became soaked as they dump their beers in my hair.
The only other thing that I do clearly remember from that night,
The place that we were partying at was a bar named Rick’s Place
Nevertheless, I know our unit did not intentionally start the fight
It started when some stupid jarhead punched me in the face.
I just overreacted and I slammed a chair against his head.
In slow motion and into tiny pieces, the chair breaks up.
That was when his entire shirt turned a bloody red.
Before long through out the bar, the fighting erupts.
This satirical bar fight was Army men fighting against Marines.
My men and I were right there fighting in the middle of it.
Any time that we go out, we sometimes quickly will cause a scene.
As soon as the MP’s are called we will leave the scene just as quick.
The next day, I awoke with a hangover and the base was put on alert.
No one on base that day could believe the news that came in.
The report stated that over four thousand people were hurt.
A terrorist had bombed the U.S embassy in Amanastan.
The Pentagon quickly sent out the alert orders.
All personnel were told that they must report in.
The Navy ships were already steaming across the waters.
Five military transports were loaded with very angry men.
The U. S. Army Rangers units are prepared for war.
We quickly clean every weapon and pack all our gear.
We have practiced the alert drill time and time before.
Somewhere behind enemy lines, this time we will appear.
