Through the parting
I looked through that parting
cattails to either side
moonlight reflected off the water
creating a path
brushing the debris from the canoe
up righting it
pushing it forward
to launch
through to open water
feeling the cold water around my ankles
grabbing the paddles
hopping in
my journey begins

I Like This
A lot!
It seems to me to be a continuation of "Old canoe on the bank", that's how I read it anyway. I read that piece then this one and they fit together perfectly!
Great write raskin, a joy to read,
Dave
There's
a third one I'm thinking about but haven't completely come together with the idea yet. I like to write a series or themes. Thanks for reading. raskin
Memories of my Youth
raskin,
Having grown up on a lake in New Hampshire this piece takes me back to my canoeing days and gliding through water plants as smooth as silk.
Thanks for the memory,
Pete
Thank you
I enjoy canoeing as well, it is peaceful. I think for me I have a feel that I get a better look at things, it is a little slower pace and good excersise but it is more about the whole experience, excersise is a byproduct as far as I'm concerned. raskin
