Refracted rainbows
Glasses sat on the dining table
in the sunlight of a picture window.
Freshly washed with
vinegar, lemon and water.
Each glass slowly dried
carefully with a lint free cloth,
no streaks to mare the clarity of the crystal.
The sun hit a certain angle
refracting light through the goblets,
scattering rainbows across the room.
I waited all day to see this,
my reward.

I love The Imagery!
I have these beautiful Swedish crystal figurines that are placed by my front window. The sun's rays capture them wonderfully, producing an array of blue's around the ledge.
Thankyou for reminding me of the simplicity and beauty of nature.

Thankyou
My mother had this beautiful lamp with crystals that hung from it, I waited for the sun to hit the lamp, I would watch as the rainbows would dance on the wall. Funny the the things we think about. raskin
Refracted Rainbows
This poem is endearing as it creates memories of a time when precious possessions were treated with a certain ritual and formality that resonated a reverence for a more civilized life and a deeper appreciation of the commonplace. I loved it! Many thanks for sharing. Sincerely, Ezmerelda
