Dipping the paddle in the water
pulling towards me
then up, drip, drip, drip
back in the water
pull again
moving forward
with each pull
one side then the other
the moon guides me along
staying within
light casts a path
the screech of the owl
breaks the silence
a wolf howls in the distance
rustling along the shore
of unknown animals
a question forms in my mind
is it the moon or the other shore
that pulls me closer
