My god, your an atheist

She spat out, your an atheist,
I wasn't
confirmed,
didn't go to church,
I suppose
it looks like that.
Her judgment swift
without so much as a waiver,
no chance of rebuttal,
it was done.
I looked at the gold cross
around her neck,
shiny it was,
polished
I supposed,
but I guess
that would be
an assumption.

I love it

Raskin,

This piece bigins with a rather enormous assumption and ends with an inconsequential assumption but an assumption none the less. Brilliant.

The guy who was your buddy,

Pete

Thanks Pete

for commenting you have left great comments, sometimes funny, sometimes helpful I appreciate that. Yea I had a theme about assumptions going last night, it's tough to not make assumptions but everyone has their cross to bear as it may be said. In my life I smile a lot but the reason for that is this, if I feel good I show it because I know what feeling bad looks like and feels like. I've found methods to cope, seeing the irony is one part, laughing at the silliness in life is another. There's a lot of little things I do. Thanks buddy. raskin

As always, you're welcome

Raskin,

Assumptions are easy to make if we are unwilling to seek out all the facts.

Pete

wonderful, raskin...

This one speaks to me. So many church going people are not very Godlike, and many of the ones who don't go to an organized church just radiate goodness. Gold crosses do not define a person's character or spirituality!

Great poem!

this actually

happened to my daughter, I've had my run ins. I liked the whole irony of making assumptions without knowing the person or the facts. Thanks for commenting. raskin
