I'll teach you how to fight

His eyes glittered as they filled with water,
jaw set, lips tight in the I don't want to cry look.
Gazing down at him as he looked up at me,
eyes so big, beautiful, revealing.
Sadness finally spilled out of his mouth,
taunts, torments, ill treatment
cracks in the armor
finally shone forth.

I sighed, listening to it all.
His run ins with ugliness, meaness
dampening his exuberance.
Thinking how to teach a child to rise up,
I let him sob it out.
Then I said,
I'll teach you how to fight.

Can be so cruel, god helps those who help themselves ...
Teach him to lead with his left :)

thanks

I was a pretty scrappy kid, imagine that. One thing I learned is there is the pre fight, the time to avoid the fight and still stick up for yourself without hurting anyone. That's the important part, then I taught him how to take someone down. raskin

I'm gonna get a bit sappy here but the innate goodness of your heart just shouted loudly from the lines of this piece. Beautiful.

Blown Away,

Pete

thanks

Pete that's nice comment. He read this and smiled. He was so funny when I was showing him some elemental moves to protect himself and take someone down. He has a sweet nature. raskin
