Be my friend
Be my friend
let me back into your forest
for a rest
quiet, peace
a bit of silence, please.
May I sit under the pines
protected from the wind
relax on the soft pine needles
as the sun filters through the trees
lending a glow to the air.
I can lean back against the trunk
protected, drowsing, dreaming
wistfully of another time,
another place,
or maybe it was this place
that was always there
waiting for me to come and retire.
