Still Life

Scuffling through the earth
Ignoring the frustration of boredom
Searching for something, anything
Monotony tarries in my midst.

Still I tunnel away until
Residue clogs beneath my nails
I lie down, drained, and for lengths
Watch the clouds collide

In lieu of the motion
Boredom nudges me again and again
My discomforted countenance heeds
A water droplet then lands on my lash

Masses block out the radiance and
Gently pours more on me
I scamper from boredom and
Find fun playing in the showers
