Give it away free! I am amazed at the “I + computer= me generations” non-ability to look past their youthful fancies of giving art, writing and music away for= free on the internet. Since the coming of the Internet, many newspapers, magazines, publishers and the entertainment industry have all considered the downfall of their future.

Last Christmas found our biggest newspaper in Chicago in the can of bankruptcy with many employees receiving a layoff forever notice for their holiday gift. As we, all sit helplessly by watching every opportunity for artisans in every genre bite the stardust forever, I am wondering – “do any of us realize we are cutting off ours nose to spite our faces?”- The all of us whom contribute to free on the Internet contribute to everything forever FREE.

Because this double edge= sword (of be seen now but never be remembered or paid tomorrow) is killing every artists, musicians and writer’s dreams of a chance to ever make money, get credit or be remembered.

I use to write how to make things (not for free) articles years ago for magazines, those magazines have gone under, and I cannot begin to list all the many talented writers I have read on the Hub ( remark they use to write – you know= in real print). I am reading this on the many writing networks I participate and contribute + for FREE and sometimes pay for the honor to work FREE! I also do reading (to gauge trends) on the Internet. Telling myself someday I will pull myself out of this precocious situation, but the someday never comes.

Yes, I write for free on the Internet but never in my wildest dreams when I started it did I ever believe it would mean I would be forever doomed to give away free everything from news, my ideas- inventions and how to recipes, how to articles, prose, poetry, art, photography. However I find myself sitting here ten years later writing for free on the inter scrape system. Finding myself thrilled if I can get a few to read anything I write. Because there are millions and millions of want to be writers, professional writers, aspiring writers giving their all away – to the public for =free on the Internet.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe paying for a website to download my resume’ and “real art career” on the Internet would result in too many years later to find few viewers and one sale in all this time. That sale actually came from prospecting elsewhere. You had better believe it is hard to get anyone to look at a real toy and doll designers website when the searches for dolls are let me check that –Yahoo search engine there are 336,000,000 searches for dolls. Sure, someone is going to find a writer, inventor, doll designer in that massive lineup. Yes, I am aware if I paid a web- computer geek professional search engine designer more than I could ever possibly make I could get my name up there in the top light of the first search engine.

Yesterday July 7, 2009 I was watching the BBC and on the news a man (sorry cannot remember his name) wrote a book named “Free,” of all things. The man’s you know- super cool idea was to give some things- free, including downloading his book on Kindle for of all things= giving his book for Free. His response was the advertising online pays for it and his brilliant idea was to eliminate journalist and get our community of free writers to do all the work for businesses for =FREE. Well that is a nifty idea and obviously, everyone is already using that brilliant idea.
