Her Smile Makes Me Smile

Whenever I feel sad
And life’s troubles wear me down
I just look upon her face
And no longer wear a frown.

Whenever the cold rain
Pours upon parched ground

Take The Pain Away

You don’t have to be a hero
To relieve an aching heart,
To ease the burdens on his shoulder
A kind word will make a start.

A friendly smile may be all
That’s needed to raise spirits high,

Blowing Bubbles

Carried
Upon a soft whisper
Of a breeze,
Bubbles float aloft
Delighting little children
With such simple pleasures;
A kaleidoscope
Of colours
Swirl around,
Crazy circles

Duvet Day

Go on, you deserve it,
You’ve had a stressful night,
Have a day in the duvet,
And perhaps a pillow-fight!
But if you do be careful
As feathers can catch your eye,

Lost to the Abyss...

Did you ever have a thought
But neglected to capture it?
Did it evaporate into nothingness
Into the endlessly infinite?
Did the spark of inspiration
Suddenly get smothered and die?

A Piece Of My Heart

A piece of my heart died today
As I saw a yellow leaf fall from a tree
Reminding me of that day so grey
When Death took my friend from me.

A piece of my heart has a hole

Ballet

Heavenly dancing
Exquisite movement and form,
Art’s pure elegance.

All Is Calm And Still

A wisp of blue
morning mist
gently caresses
the mirrored lake
as a pale yellow sun
slowly filters through.

A pair of white swans
sail effortlessly by
in stately splendour.

A Single Snowflake

A unique
Silver crystal;

One among billions,
Floating

Down

From a turquoise sky
Until, journey's end -

Pierced through
By a green blade
Where
It slowly melts
Depositing

Reminiscing

That Wedding Day photograph
Stands on the table side,
A black-and-white picture
Of a Husband and his Bride.

She looks and reflects upon
That picture of wedded bliss,

VICTIM OF LOVE

Slap a padlock on my mind
If you can only but try;
My thoughts cannot be confined,
This freedom you won’t deny.

Am I so small, so fragile a Bird,
Unnoticed, with a broken wing?

Eight Nature Haikus

BLUE FLAME

Dancing on the coals
It curls its ribbon of blue
Hypnotic wonder.

CLOUDED YELLOW

Dusted in pastel
Powdered fragile lemon wings
Dancing in freedom.

CRESCENT MOON

The Shy Butterfly

Every time the warm sunshine
Breaks through the leaden grey
It shines upon her delicate wings
And there she does safely stay
Until, she flexes her fragile frame
And decides to be very brave,

Just a Blue-Eyed Guy

Maybe I’m being simplistic
But I’m no one special at all,
Just a basic blue-eyed guy
With the plain name of Paul.

I have no wealth, no riches,
No millions in the bank,

Pretty Ballerinas

Pretty pink ballerinas
Danced all in a row
On thin, tenuous stems
Their beauty they did show.

Such pretty pink petals
Hung carefree in warm air
And stirred a sense of happiness
