REMINISCING

That Wedding Day photograph
Stands on the tables side,
A black-and-white picture
Of a Man and his Bride.

She looks and reflects upon
That picture of wedded bliss,
Those childhood sweethearts
Sealed their love with a kiss.

Fifty years have flown by
Since that momentous day,
Now that rose has left her cheek
And her hair has turned dull grey.

But, her memories are still warm
And fresh is her youthful heart;
Love and romance still blooms
As it did at the very start.

She sits in her chair and smiles,
Then clasps that photo to her chest
Reminiscing over those times
That to her are the very best.

Just then, her aged husband
Walked through the kitchen door
And gave her a winning look
Just like fifty years before.

This is a very sweet piecture of two who have weathered the storms of life together and still are able to spark a flame within the other.

Very nice,

Pete

remember

after 50 years, they still have that spark of true love . A true life situation. I decided to put a happy twist at the conclusion.

Beautiful

I like how you wound down to the ending with him coming through the door. Nice set up and delivery. raskin

I thought

a happy ending would raise the tone. Not the usual loss after so many years of shared memories.
Your comment is truly appreciated.

it was

a nice payoff for this poem. raskin
