My Spirit Speaks

Seat back down, I gaze to the sky
The masses of clouds move like continents
Cool wind gently brushes the treetops
I wish this moment could last forever

Thoughts of childhood clutter my mind
So much time has passed
Happiness, sadness, fulfillments, regrets
What will I choose to do next?

People who I have loved are gone
The pain of sorrow is overwhelming
Memories and pictures are all that remain
Someday the rest of us will fade

I am still sitting here, staring upward
Thoughts of those I love ease my mind
Gently the breath leaves my body
This moment was meant to last forever
