A Sweet Voice
That voice,
I know it.
Soft, yet gentle and firm.
Calling my name,
Whispering it softly,
Beckoning my soul.
"Come," it cries.
I'm scared.
"Come," it says again.
My face pale with fright.
My mind is in another time.
Hurt by so many before.
"Will you come?" it asks.
Finding my voice,
I scream back,
"Why should I?!"
"Come," it says again.
The darkness seems to fold in.
I don't know which way to turn.
There's a feeling of nervousness,
At the same time,
Anticipation and longing,
Dare I follow this call?
"Come," it cries again.
I surrender.
I sink in the call of this unknown force.
What is driving me?
A voice as clear as the setting sun speaks.
"I love you, child."
Jesus.
What a sweet sensation.
Salvation is coming upon me.
The darkness begins to fade
Leaving a bright feeling.
I feel new and revived.
What a sweet voice.
I don't regret my decision.
It was a beautiful choice.
I love you, Father.
Thank you for pulling me from the miry clay.
I thought I was too lost to be saved.
You showed me I was wrong.
If only you hadn't called,
Where would I be?
Oh, Lord,
You have such,
A Sweet Voice.
