THE CALLING

Gone are the agonies untold
now in silent running rage
like beliefs of ancient gods which spoke
through old and trusted sage
who tearing off in search to find
in sudden light to grasp
and just as sudden understanding
is too gone all too fast

Wreaking lives which held compassion
but held love twice as dear
as wise men say, who know the way
just what have fools to fear
they give up lies and know the truth
that shakes their very core
to have the one they hold most dear
they twist and bend the law
for what are laws in lovers hands
for time destroys them all
for love will be when hope is gone
and every kingdom falls
there are no laws too strong
I would not be at the beck and call
of your sweet voice that steals my mind
from logic and more guilt
that lets me now enjoy your heart
and at last these feelings felt
