The Old Lady

I like watching other people on tv
said the wrinkling old lady
helps me remember the days in which i was free
I think I will go there, one day, maybe

she smiles as she changes to another channel
one show after another. keeping time like a clock's ticker
sees handsome young faces. some competitions judges panel
her glassed over eyes hypnotized by the tv's mindless flicker

she wants to go with this presenter to Peru
I want to, I wish i could, feel young again
she wants to try out this program's new hair due
I wish it had, I wish it wouldn't, stay the same

nobody will know till too late what her vision beholds
she has no way of telling the young about growing old

The Old Lady

paintwhenpainted:

I enjoyed your vision of the elderly
It reminded me of Joan Baez's song "Hello In There",
about an elderly couple lamenting the death of their
son in a far foreign war, living in poverty, but with
their aged fond memories.
thank you for the images--joseph
