supress your voice
step step spin in confusion
one two three make a decision
grow up, get up and pick a life
then look around and pick a wife
make one choice
then suppress your voice
find a career
don't shed a tear
love the one your with
or get lucky on the fifth
one day you stop
on the ground you flop
you roll on to your back
and your million bad choices hit you with a 'whack! '
you are sucked into a tunnel of pictures
you watch again the speeches and advice of all those tricksters
all rushing you on as if you had no time
pushing and shoving you to get you long past your prime
what, who, why, when was it for?
automatic unthinking they repeated crap to bandage up their own forgotten sore
as babies and toddlers they were into the system bled
on lies and false hopes they were nurtured and fed
now without their own direction
they hope to redeem themselves by giving you misconceptions
listen to you elders
of their own paths they are the tellers
believing that after all these years they are owed the right to be wise
they talk and ramble and offer 'good' advice to maintain the disguise
so long they have soaked in their own opinion
they simply assume you are their minion
puttering along their own tracks
giving you their rusted wrotting facts
chewing on coal getting old and soggy
their advice for the young is all meaningless and foggy
no children know that they can pick and choose
and when things pile up too much no wonder we turn to booze
with no time to straighten out our frightened minds
we are thrown and shoved into the world as confused as the blind
our lives are not taken as sacred
not by our peers, parents or our own treacherous head
and when we listen with the ears of our ears
we are told to suppress our rational fears
to just get on with life and waste not a moment
because the world needs us to be just another ticking component
to do our job and for destiny hope and wait
that life will happen and everything will be sorted out by fate
