Learner's Permit

Jessica’s reached that magical year,
She’s finally become ten and five.
This is the age all parents fear,
When an offspring can learn to drive.

She waves her permit newly laminated,

Appendix

The sky was all gray not just clouded partly,
But soccer was played and by Jennifer, smartly.

When the day ended and start did the night,
There began a twinge that turned into a fright.

Seduction

A dueling pair with agendas hidden,
One to smite; the other be smitten?

To satiate hunger, will she submit?
Weave rapture into romance, will he permit?

Affriming Faith in Mind (selected verses)

By Seng-Tsan; Translated by Richard B. Clarke; Version from Rochester ZC

The Great Way is not difficult,
for those who do not pick and choose.

When preferences are cast aside

Quantum Fuel

Nuclear quantum decay,
Alphas and gammas away,
As per the laws of chance.

Each other coercing,
Chain reaction rehearsing,
Nuclear fusion enhance.

Stuff That Cleans

Here’s a truth about which, our noses do sense,
Humans have a smell, that can give offense.

There is an odor that, I humbly will admit,
Quite powerful is, from the human arm pit.

Chocolate Temptation

A thank you cake, it was delivered today,
Called Mudd, it came on a round plastic tray.

Chocolate icing all around, a nutty fudge topping.
Someone didn’t cook, probably went shopping.

Summer Camp (JN)

The end of camp is coming soon,
Hope you got to gaze at the moon.

Flying blood suckers, buzzing blood eaters,
Did you get bitten by pesky moskeeters?

Summer Camp (JR)

Girl scout camp again this year,
There's nothing there for you to fear.

Be brave and bold for goodness sakes,
There’s only frogs, turtles, birds and snakes.

Password

With fireworks ignited, it brightens my soul,
Remodels my spirit, total and whole.
A solitary sonnet, it lightens my mind,
A single word, one of a kind.

A password to joy and life's measure.

Birthday

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Jennifer,
Happy birthday to you,

It’s time to celebrate your birthday, it happens every year,

Broken Arm

Everyone, the game was playing quite fair,
The ball it was kicked and flew through the air.

Jessica nearby, her arm on the right,
The ball it did hit, a frightening sight.

Left-Brained

As left-brained be,
Metaphors hard to see,
Thus on rhymes I do rely,

But practice I will,
Verse metaphors fill,
To bake a diff'rent pie.

Aspiration

My verses some flowers others grime,
Few are good but most are mediocre.
Still, I'd rather compose in rhyme,
Than jab my eye with a poker.

Others’ prose allspice, curry and thyme,

Collective Nouns

Names for groups, collective nouns they are,
In our speech their usefulness goes very far.

For horses you know, the collective noun or word,
This collective noun, as you know is the HERD.
