A Day in the Park

The sky was an infinite, affirmative blue,
We laid blissfully on your blanket for a while.
Your whispers as soft and soothing as a flower;
The bustling, flustered butterflies made us smile.

You spoke to me of love, I was there
Before you even mentioned the word.
I listened to your voice as if it were the
Voice of God, floating like a bird

To where I dreamt of us in clover, embracing
Forever; in moonlight, our hands welded tight
As if holding the universe in our grip
And our union the only source of earthly light.

The freshness of the grass and trees
As they trembled in the ghostly breeze;
We touched and kissed like lovers do,
And this park for me will always be you.
