Come With Me
Come with me, friend,
As we peel back months and years,
Back through the candlelight
Of birthdays and tears.
In naivete and blindness born,
A blissful beginning, torn
Between knowing and sleep;
Gateposts of love and scorn.
So come with me Friend, now,
As forward, we ride down-hill,
Bristling like a manic zephyr
Bending airwaves to our will.
And forgive me if it's too fast:
I cannot brake a mind in flight,
Just enjoy the God-willed die-cast
All peripheral and slight.
Though I'll take you with me,
You must keep one eye shut
To see the blur of wrong and right,
The where, the if, the but.
You must hang on as my speed
Becomes my all engrossing word,
An All-Saints day epiphany,
An adulthood deferred.
