A love like mine
My love is more than hearts can keep inside
And it embraces more than selfish thirst.
A love like mine can own the planet wide
But, which is more, it always puts you first.
A love like mine is sick. It can destroy
And God, I wish the time would cool it dead
But memories of long forgotten joy
Can lift it up and burn the feelings red.
My dear, a love like mine cannot be fair.
Once it was hurt it’s hurt enough to kill.
It’s much above the might of rivals’ prayer
And far beyond the limits of my will.
I’ve closed my eyes to isolate the dark,
But I’m alert, awaiting for a sign.
I’ll burn again. I need a single spark.
I can’t believe you’ll kill a love like mine.

A love like mine
Well, this is a good follow-up to Murder. I've gone back and read that one again and I now believe that the murderer was correctly identified in the last line. Always very intense, Nitta, and one always looks forward to new submissions from a talented poet. As usual, a new poem re-ignites my interest and leads me back into the Nitta archives for additional inspiration.
Favorite line here: A love like mine can own the planet wide.
Wow
That was an intense read.
Stay well, One love and God bless!
Nitta
Love can be the most powerful and ultimately damaging emotion God gave to men and women. Like they say, you can love too well but not wisely. I beleive that in my heart of hearts.
