Awake

Don't sleep. Let's stay awake tonight
And watch the comets as they break
In their last amazing light.
They fall for us. Let's stay awake.

Let's watch the darkness painting black
The empty streets, meanwhile the moon
Is laying shadows on your back.
You're now on stage. Don't leave this soon.

Not now, I pray! I want to see
Your eyes, your lips in midnight glow
And know that you are here for me
At least tonight; so, please, don't go!

I need a night to stay with you,
So when they say this love was fake
I will be sure it wasn't true,
Because we stood a night awake.

lovely

Romantic imagery with a nice air of optimism in the conclusion. Good piece. :-)

Thank you

Thank you. It's so nice to have you back

It doesn't matter how slow you go, as long as you don't stop

awake

Could anyone refuse this plea? Quite romantic, indeed. Reminds me of a wonderful poem titled "Me and the Stars", which I think I read on another website. I know many poets have incorporated references to the stars, the moon, the seasons, and other various workings of nature into their poems, and when done right the effect is sublime. I don't think anyone does it better than Nitta.
