Your Mermaid Song

We meet again one dreamy night
Of emerald green on midnight's shore
Warm waves reflected in the light
Of silver moon forevermore.

I listen to your soaring voice
That echoes cross the sapphire waves
And causes my heart to rejoice
For music of the sea, it craves.

In this Aegean dream, we play
This magic beach of windswept sand
In pale moonlight, we've lost our way
Here where the ocean meets the land.

Sweet Mari Ann, your poet ways
Through endless dunes, you lead me on
Way past the rocks, lost in a daze
Enraptured by your mermaid song.

These are my favorite types of dreams. Love the beach and ocean imagery in this... The sweet darkness and cadence hit the right notes. But be careful that this isn't a siren song you're hearing...

Thanks Neocon

Glad you liked my fantasy/nature poem, I guess that's my specialty. Mari Ann's a real person, my best friend and poet, so I thought I'd include her here.

Very fine poetry...

This seems to feature all of the elements of very fine poetry. In my opinion, this is a really nice effort...delivering a great visual wording scheme, unique subject matter, and consistant meter. I also am impressed by the way you have structured it, organizing each individual stanza in a way in which brings forth a story. I can actually see the pictures when I read this truly clever, and extremely well thought out piece. Thanks for posting!! J.P. (Rex)

Thank you for your insightful comments, Rex.

Yes, I was trying to create a story here. Very far from reality, just a little seaside dream. Have posted other poems with a similar theme.
