On Rails of Steel

On rails of steel, I flew away
O'er deep green swamp and windy bay
Through thick pine woods and coastal hills
To purge my life of all its ills
And left behind south Florida
To reach my woodsy shangri-la
Now here I walk between the trees
And listen to the lonely breeze
These verdant woods and streams so clear
So empty now without you here
In these deep woods of heart's denial
I sadly miss your sunny smile
This sylvan place so very bare
Without your healing love to share
And so I rue that dismal day
On cold steel rails, I flew away
Now late at night, I lay in bed
As your sweet whispers fill my head
And as the wind sweeps through the glen
I pray that we will meet again.

missing someone

yeah, man, it's rough missing someone you were close with. you must miss a lot of people from florida... hope you feel better soon. touching poem.

Thanks!

Yes, this poem's about leaving my best friend behind down in Florida. She 's a real special friend named Mari Ann; a wonderful person who I have so much in common with. Was really bummed out when I wrote this. Thanks for the encouragement, Neocon.
