Pantomime

I could not help but notice you
sitting alone by the fireplace
with your beer and a book
your suspenders slung over your strong, broad shoulders
some stubble growing sporadically along your flawless jawline
your bowler's hat atop your head
a wilbur smith novel in your hand

you made a welcome sight

your face like a pantomime
so perfect and expressive
but sadly for me
I need more than a pantomime to take that step to journey's end
when lovers meet.

I love the imagery you use

I love the imagery you use in this poem. The pantomime metaphor is very appropriate to the context. Nice work. Peace, NSF
