2010: A Prophesy.

I voted Obama
you voted McCain
So let us get down to
inflicting some pain.
We've got some brass knuckles
and pipes made of lead.
We'll bash on each other
until we are dead.

There's war in the House
and war in the Senate,
there's war in the streets
because both sides meant it
to be war to the end
with no holds that are barred.
the dead in the gutters
and burning in cars.

Two seperate nations,
one red and one blue.
I'll divide it in half
for that's all I can do.
I don't mean our nation
will be split into halves.
I mean its your head
that I'll split with a laugh.

Or maybe it's me
who'll be biting the dust.
My blood will be flowing
as my skull you do bust.
Our people will weep
a great river of tears
but then strike out with hatred
to cover their fears.

The Senators too
will go at it with knives.
The House Representational's
filling with cries
as some men slit throats
and others shoot guns.
Their daughters are fighting
and so are their sons.

Nobody is trying
to reach 'cross the aisle,
unless it's to kill
someone else with a smile.
The war it is coming
of right versus left,
and no one will win it
except old man Death.

When the other side's evil
and filled with great lies
we don't have to try to
see things through their eyes.
If they're teamed up with Satan
or mere fascist thugs
we can kill them all off
with hardly a shrug.

So the streets are all burning,
flames arise to the sky.
Our ideals democratic
in fires they die.
The Statue of Liberty's
been blown to bits,
and our Declaration's
been torn into strips.
And our Constitution
will soon be alight,
to set fires burning
which light up the night.

Nice one, McMongrel. The

Nice one, McMongrel. The country is very fractured, and you summed up well many of those feelings in this piece. There are really two Americas in many different ways, idealogical, racial, economic, etc. It'll be interesting to see what happens to us in the future. Hopefully it won't be as dark as it is in this poem. Peace, NSF

Living here in NC, I think

Living here in NC, I think hear more of the hatred than some.
I also hear a lot of support for Obama, see yard signs and bumper stickers, and hear words of acceptance from some McCain supporters.
Still, I think the next 4 or 8 years will be quite vicious politically, and I fear that exremists groups like the Klan might even return to the use of violence against their opponents.

Democracy

I am a big fan of liberty, the wisdom of the men who wrote the constitution, bill of rights and our declaration of independence. I am not a fan of the strident politics I have seen develop, I am not a fan of being demonized for my beliefs. This was a good poem on the climate of divisive radicalism that has nothing to do with debate or solving problems. I have friends of all political persuasions but it has been a bit more difficult during the election cycle, I think emotion is ramped up a bit more. I'm rambling, your poem got me thinking. That's good, thanks. raskin

I feel the same Wife,

I feel the same
Wife, daughter, son, myself, and mom all for Barack
Step Dad, Brother in law, some Aunts and Uncles, and several friends for McCain.
If we can have dinner together and treat each other with respect, why can't others?

Good Stuff!

Hey McMongrel, it's good to be back, and to see that you're still producing some funky stuff! It's nice to see some political stuff on here too... right up my alley. The nation is more polarized than I've ever seen it before, and I don't see any solution.
