The punch card is drunk today
Accidental ending up with a friend of mine
It knows not that I am in the future
Struggling to grasp every bit of the present and forget the past
While it waits for its date with the time clock
I am getting ready for mine with her
Beyond in the future I prepare.
Clothes are cleaned and my body is too
Still fifteen minutes ahead of the rest of the world I wait
For that woman with the blond hair and that soft smile
That makes my time travel possible.
Has anyone noticed my absence
or do they still toil waiting for the bell to sound
For me the bell was late today
Does my punch card know of my game, will it tell
Will I be made an example of
Or will my punch card follow my example
Will it see me tomorrow knowing that I have traveled through time
And ask of my adventures
Surely it sees that love knows no boundaries
Neither distance I have traveled
nor time I have dispatched will be questioned
I sit waiting in the future now, waiting for the present
Every passing second brings our times together
Every mile traveled brings us together in time.
When our times collide and my past becomes our present
She will be here knocking upon my chamber door
I will explain how I defied the laws of physics to see her
She will reply that I only broke the rules of employment
