So what to do with California?

Edgar Cayce said it should have
Slipped off the continental shelf by now
But it’s still with us, and very much a problem.

It’s the water, stupid.
Not enough of it.

And the pecan growers
And the home owners
And the manufacturers
And the miners
And the tomato ranchers
And the conservationists
And the poor ol’ guys with thirst
Are all planning their own diversion schemes.

This time the forests and the trees
Are all part of the same, big picture –
And that picture
Is getting brittle.
