What words

There are many words I can speak
There is so much that I can say

But words are never quite enough
Even when I pray

Some of the words are trust and faith
Hope and wish and dream

But how small those words now sound out loud
How trivial they seem

Each and every word
Has a definition in a book

But their meanings can be lost
Where ever else I look

For they are only words
That too easily deceive

Those to whom we speak
Whenever we do not believe

Yes I have so many words
Among them love and hate

Right and wrong and good and bad
Are words that I can state

But will it matter what words I use
If I offer them to you

Will you alter your perception
Change your point of view

An exchange of vows is merely words
Spoken with expectation

In silence may your words be bound
To your dedication

Happiness, grief, joy, and sorrow
Pain and pleasure hurt and heal

As yet in some tomorrow
These words will all be real
