A.N.Z.A.C.s (Australian and New Zealand Army Corpse)

On the shores of Gallipoli, 1915
They landed at the break of day,
Australia and New Zealand
Together we fell, so many forlorn braves.
The intel was wrong, NO! The landing was off,
And the Turks had our backs to the wall,
This blood-laden ground, this peninsula
Over 40 000 would fall.

From the 25th of April to the 9th of January
This campaign struggled on,
Just to capture the Ottoman
Of Istanbul, hang on! Something’s wrong.
Britain, France and India
Accompanied the A.N.Z.A.C.s,
So 130 784 fell
On both sides, from all attacks.

Near on now a hundred years
Their spirit shall never die,
The first Australia - New Zealand
War offensive of any kind,
To the ANZACs
I pledge allegiance too,
Your bravery and mateship tried
Lest I forget, I’m thanking you!

You’ve never; truly died.
