Individuals

All my friends are doing it, I don’t really care
I’m an individual.
I break the chains that bind me, and end up anywhere
I’m an individual.
The status quo does lead me but I choose another path
I’m an individual.
I’m almost accepted when I turn my face and laugh
I’m an individual.

Majority verses minority
Which one really wins?
Which one holds authority?
Which one has the wings?
To fly into the common good
Declaring they know all,
That single place where they could
Be individuals.

Just because you’re doing it, doesn’t mean that I must
I’m an individual.
I’m the only one in which I find I have to trust
I’m an individual.
I won’t lay on those train-tracks just because it’s being done
I’m an individual.
But now I’m finding out that I’m not the only one
I’m an individual.

Majority verses minority
The latter holds the cards,
For there’s no dichotomy
They’re simply led by heart,
They take the lead and clear the way
They shepherd one and all,
They’re leaders of the modern day
They’re individuals.
