Dream Of Dreams

I once had this nightmare
It lasted several days,
Incorporeally there
A demon’s burning gaze,
Turns lights an oozing red
And drips it from the wall,
Enlightens what the dead
Admonish for us all.

Living is a torture
We shouldn’t have to face,
Desiccating future
Dilapidated place,
Shared with those departed
But never truly seen,
Too much stays retarded
When told within the dream.

So should we amble on?
And hold life in its grace,
Or welcome life as gone
Breathe life into death’s face.
This poem cannot say
I only have this pen,
The sword will always slay
But dreams will dream again.
