The Sting of it All
Sometimes you are the wind
And I am unable to catch you
Blowing by so hard and fast
Leaving me all alone and lost
Then there are the days
When you sting like saltwater
With my eyes wide open
Leaving me with false hoping
But mostly, you are the sun
On my skin, permeating deep within
When thoughts of you suddenly occur
And those old feelings begin to stir
And sometimes you are the moon’s
Unbearable bright light
Meeting my desires and my needs
Giving me your guarantee
And sometimes you are the musty smell
Of the falling leaves in autumn
You either like it or you do not
Between a rock and a hard place, I’m caught.

Sometimes there are people who come into our lives to help with things, teach us things ... sometimes they become bigger than life like the wind, water, sun and moon. I like the way you wrote that sometimes they become dead leaves as in autumn. Oh that smell; here in lies the conundrum.

So Right Ron
you are right about that...people come into our lives for certain lessons...then maybe its time to move on...but its hard to do sometimes
thanks for the comments Ron

Linda,
It's nice to see you producing such fine work. The analogous style is great and your final verse was superb.
Yes, you either like the smell of fallen leaves or not.

I like this one. You get away from the "every-line's-a-rhyme" and it works for you.
I do think the last two lines could be re-done. I think you stretched to make it rhyme and broke with the imagery.
