The Ordinary Day
I never noticed the ordinary day before.
The beauty in the breath of morning air
or the simplicity of a single flower bending in the wind.
The magnificent light from the moon shining down on me when it’s full.
I want to see it all with you but you aren’t here.
Everything my eyes capture I think of you.
The way the light glistens on the lake in the late afternoon.
Almost blinding me along with my tears.
And how the warm breeze feels on my skin
like your soft touch on me.
The perfume of the rosemary and thyme
that lingers on my hands when I choose it to make a meal,
you are right there with me.
The beauty in the music I hear.
We dance you and I
and every move is graceful and the rhythm is to perfection.
Dreams of you consume my night and day.
You are always with me but you’re not.
When I’m afraid I think of you to soothe myself.
And if I’m bored there you are, again.
When I capture a glimpse of you it takes my breath away.
It almost hurts but I like the ache.
It awakens my whole being.
It makes me feel alive again and reminds me
How we felt together.
How you brought me back to life
After just existing.

What a sweet compliment, Dolan!
Thank you very much for that. You sir have made my day!!
I haven't been on much lately either. I must say it is great to see your name again.

I'm so happy
I got to chance to read one of your older poems. Though, this has a totally different style compared to your newer ones, I still felt that unique Linda vibe. :) full of love and bursting with feelings...
Thanks for sharing your inspiration for an ordinary day such as this one I have now. :)
Eric
ERIC, thank you!
Yeah, I guess I have never stopped writing about love huh? I try....but I keep coming back to love poems :)
I'm glad you noticed this poem today too, Eric.... Somehow I think of you as the "male love poem writer" here.
So happy you liked this one. I like it too! ( I'm partial to it cuz its one of my firsts)

Linda
Aww, you're too kind Linda...
Unlike you I seem to be more inspired when I lack and yearn for love...
Because when I am in love, I often find myself wordless and I can't seem to express it as beautifully as you do. :)
~Priceless~
Linda,
This is priceless. You should be very proud of it! It is authentic and the expressions are so meaningful for all of us. Even a moment of love, true love, is so refreshing. You have mastered the art of loving and have the talent to write about it. Wow! I look forward to more of you in the new year.
Warm regards,
Kathy

Kathy, this was one I'll never forget
Thanks Kathy! This being one of my first poems, it was amazing to me that I even wrote it. It was one of those that just poured out of me effortlessly...from my heart. I remember tears streaming down my face through the entire write.
Thank you so much kathy for commenting. I'm glad to know your point of view on one of my first poems!

Love and poetry...
Jill, thank you for your comment to me. Yes i agree it is amazing how love can change your life or your outlook on life. I actually feel that poetry did the same for me as love.....Changed absolutely everything and how i looked at everything and everyone.
It still boggles my mind how that happened.
I appreciate your kind words Jill
thanks so much

linda, linda, linda
your poems always seem to touch something so deep inside of me... this one nearly had the tears gently sliding down my cheek, making the hurt of missing someone you love so real... it is beautifully sad. I love "how your brought me back to life after just existing"... isn't that just what love does?
ps... i have been brought back to life, and am drunk on the love-punch... my world has the most incredible colour and i am savouring each moment of every extraordinary day...
hugs my friend.
