If I were you I’d be pretty darn proud
Of what we all think sitting here, in the crowd
Watching those girls working that leather
Not caring who’s the high scorer or whether
Or not she’s the queen of the show…
What’s great about them is what they bestow
Teaching all of us, it’s not about the points
And bearing the pain on those worn out joints
It’s about getting along, on this incredible earth
And showing the others how to instill self worth
One chest pass here and another one there
Their generosity could and would, never compare
You wonder who taught them to have such pride
I’d say a lot of caring people far and wide
First of all parents the most important teachers of all
They help you stand up right after you fall
Coaches that teach and their own inner strength
When you have it you’ll go to any length
It’s such a joy to see the smiles on your faces
While dribbling down the court.. of all places
There’s not one single ball hog on the entire team
You adorable girls really are what you seem
You make us proud and humble us in this little town
Each and everyone one of you deserves the golden crown
So go out there, go get them, that team from Walpole

I wrote this and sent this to the coaches and the for the highschool girls basketball team in my town. They have won like every game for 2 years straight. But I didnt write it because they won all those games...I wrote it for the way they conduct themselves on AND off the court. These girls are so sweet and repsectful and so unselfish. You'd love each and every one of them if you met them.
Ps... they lost in the 2nd round of the tournament after I sent this to them ...But you should have seen how graciously they lost. you would have been proud like me.

Winning isn't everything and it sounds like they show team spirit whether they win or lose :) we need more people like that in the world, you're so lucky to know them Linda :D ♥
