~An Indian Summer~

Leaves of color, among sheaths of gold
An Indian summer marching in bold

Octobers' fool heart well after the frost
Late bloomers' blooming, at such a cost

July and August expecting this heat
In mid October we're back to bare feet

The sun setting early like a firey flame
A gentle breeze from the east is surely to blame

Farmers are elated, harvesting their crops
Crab apples juicy and more than ready to drop

A few more days of summers glory
Raking the leaves no need to worry

Sultry, hot days give November a nudge
Indian summer ways delaying winters drudge

Cold blustery winds lend way to survival
This special gift of Gods summers revival
