After days of fighting gravity,
I was forced, face-down, into the Earth.
My life held no more vitality;
I realized how little I was worth.

Nights of trying to convince my mind
That, deep down, he loved me just as well;
The reality wasn't hard to find,
Yet, as always, it still hurt like Hell.

I'm sure there's a lesson to be learned -
A lovesick heart can't cooperate
With the mind when it knows love is spurned -
For my heart, a lesson learned too late.
