Sapphire

There was once a beautiful stone
So beautiful I replaced it with my own
I kept it inside my heart
Cool water splashed through my veins

I took it out every night
and put it back where it belonged

Every night was filled with dreams
Dreams of the stone

It was so magical
Strong enough to make armies crumble
Sweet enough to make a man blush
Perfect

The water then turned to fire
Melting my soul
The flames seem to dance on the weeping skin
Twisting and twirling

The stone left markings
Something even time can’t erase
A reminder
The other side of the rose

A mannequin has no choice
Pretends to live amongst living
Waiting
