The Lie
The Lie
Out to the open sea
I wonder what the day will bring
As I get my hook, line and reel squared away
Got my bait and beer and we are on our way
Salt mist in our face
As the sun glares off our glasses
The boats gather in line
To enter the narrow pass
A mild wind
And no waves
This is what
Most fishermen
Crave
Bait the hook
Let it sink
Pop the top
Just like a book
Feel the tug
The reel goes crazy
You start to sweat
As you get ready
You know it is big
You can tell by the of struggle
The type of fish
Has got you boggled
After 1 hour of
Reeling and pulling
The line snaps
Man you got to be fooling.
As you stand there
Sweaty and thirsty
This is just another story
You can tell on Thursday
The size it was
Will be your lie
And you will carry it
Till the day you die.
