Cats

It is night
but there are lights
to show that veins are open.
Houses are trapped in amber
and the darkness is full of cats,
that are nothing apart from

eyes beside laurel
and hot breath on my neck.

You stop before you enter
and look from side to side.
You risk leaving the rained street.

My Veins Are Open

Leaking Pen
Dear Leslie
Each time I read your poems they never fail to inspire my dormant eye, you have this amazing gift in taking every day life and weave into the magic of poetry, your gift in combining form and function second to none, but above all the details that you capture masterfully, logic and passion in equal measures always dwell in your poetry, what a gift to have such a balance, you never fail to ignite my creative writing, a great master in exploring poetic perspectives

Paul

Thanks !

Dear Paul, thank you for such kind words, it cheers me up no end after getting endless rejects from nearly all the
magazines that accept online submissions. A reason to keep trying, best wishes, Leslie

Best Poets Got rejected At First

Leaking Pen
Dear Leslie
If I list names of the great poets whose work got rejected, it will take e me a life time to list, rejection does not diminish the quality of your poetry, it could be a mood swing where these online web sites are on the lookout for a certain genre that has nothing to do with the power of your creativity, I use words in my poetry as if I have the runs, you choose you words meticulously, from a great mind comes a great writes, thus my envy of your prowess in poetry, to me your poems have that perfect balance between logic and emotion like a Bach's fugue ,please keep up your poetic flame burning to warm our wintry hearts and your blue ice to cool down our heated summers from climate change poetic pollution
Truly
Paul
