The Way We Were
The way we were
Not mine to share
Barbara stole my line
Memory’s empty wine
Last breath from my glass
Funeral farewell mass
I alone lament my past
My play, my act ,my cast
Memories bells ringing
Echoes of what if living
Last lover footprints behind
Anchors my heart’s mind
Milton soul epic lament
Sorrow’s last dent!

Why can’t love forever last
Nature Sun blast
Spring eyes, summer mouth, and autumn fading smells
Life evolving casting spells
Winter hues echoing blues
Answers to questions forming my cues
I settle for one in four
Reliable repeats wring my core

Blessed Be The Rain
Paul,
Of course, the familiar melody came like a wave with your heart's lyrics.
Your heart is raining, blessed be the rain
In fields of memories are seeds of thoughts
Of life growing, like wildflowers grow, out-of-control
In every color known, in flashes of passion and reconciliation
Thoughts that take 'us' to this present moment.
Humility has a way of finding the hay, the Christ Child
The reason for living and the reason for forgiving
In the mist of a Christmas morn, the way we were is the way
Surely our passions and our hours account for the longing of this day
What would we be without our stories, without our interests unforlding like a fan?
Sorrow is the morrow of every facet of our meaning
Yes, dents, multi-dimensional colors that glisten like stars
How meaningful to lament the stars of a Christmas morning
You have found Bethlehem
Miles away, and yet our hearts lay at the humble manger
Together, in the rain, with blessings abounding
In the fragrance of all we are, and we will ever be
Children of a God, a Christmas Lamb
A symphony of joy contains the lament of many a love
The wave it moves us beyond our own understanding
Be all that you are, a Christmas star
I felt the warmth of your beautiful glow
Merry Christmas!
Love,

Heart of the True Color Yellow
How can I choose one line over the other, one meaning from the heart of your thoughts from your poem response to mine, each line , each memory holds its cup, full of the breath of life, each line savors the taste of your being, it is in your Bethlehem that I dwell, thank you for uplifting my spirit this blessed season, may 2013 showcase your hidden gems, and in the process enrich all of us on this poetry web site

Reminiscing
Dear Paul,
This was short and sweet, and packed a punch. It's an excellent poem for this time of the year, as 2012 draws to a close. I like your sense of humor, as well as your use of emotion. The rhyme scheme was simple, but perfectly suited to this compact romantic piece. A real gem, mate. Well done.
Wishing you a very happy New Year in 2013. Have a great New Year's Eve tonight. Cheers!
Warmest regards,
Chris :-)
