Lament
Where to go from here
All poetry written and read
To fish the last remaining original thought
I'll be dead queuing in line to eternity
I rampaged the English dictionary
Few vague words left escape my understanding
I ransacked every poem under the Sun
No one stanza I dare to imitate
Strong footprints in rhyme
Linear or cubic shine
Free verse to poetry my century
Well-meaning, imposing metaphors
Giant California Sequoia to my bonsai tree
I lament the death of poetry
My poetry lost its groove
Whose sweep left for me to seek?
When to weep I seek my keep

Lament No More
Hi Paul,
I really liked this poem, despite its sombre note. I know how you feel - I have often used a dictionary (real or on-line) to help me with rhyme and finding synonyms, etc. And I've also felt as if I didn't have a single poem left in me, which was both depressing but also came with a feeling of relief (in a small kind of way)! LOL. (Yay! I can forget poetry and focus on my novels! That sort of feeling. Ha ha).
But every time I stopped thinking about poetry, or gave up on trying to 'force a poem', a poem would evolve naturally all by itself. Poets sometimes have 'dry spells', and in my case, I've found the best thing is to just walk away. Inspiration will come in its own good time. I've noticed that Gordon is sometimes inspired by poetry competitions or at least the prompt given for that particular entry. That is a great way to start. Also, reading other's poetry can sometimes give us ideas. But whatever you do, don't stop writing poetry - you write many amazing poems, and they are a valuable and inspirational contribution to this site. I look forward to reading many more of your pieces.
In the meantime, take care, keep writing, and best wishes.
Warmest regards,
Chris
Birth of hope

Dear Chris
Like that one star reoccurring, when I think the road to life eternal darkness, then a new poem is born, I keep the faith, I believe in hope when I see the light shinning again, I go on one more time!
Truly
Paul
