Man's Wish List
Went shopping for new words
I left my wife at home to rest
To be on my own terms into
The wildernesses with no lead
Witness at first hand this feed
What true men are made for!
First display caught my eye
The lazy spirit in me decides
-I’d rather gone fishing instead-
Grab the first words on display
“The Four” locked inside a can
Desire from the heart of man
Bold red label printed on the can…
“Heart On Fire A Women’s Desire”
Inside: Desire- Fire- Hire – Retire!
Every man wish list complete!

Pick Me Up
Paul,
Can you pick me up some new words, too, while you're there? I couldn't be bothered going myself, as I am even lazier! Ha ha. I had to smile at the inventiveness and imagination of this poem. My wife jokes about me shopping, and how I totally ignore prices and brands. In any case, no matter what I need to get, I always find myself in the book section. Heh. Sadly, bookstores and even CD & DVD stores are rapidly disappearing as shopping moves on-line. Thankfully we can always find inspiration in our hearts and mind! When I want new words, I read a novel, or poetry. I picked up a classic copy of Dicken's Oliver Twist the other day (in old English), and found two new words on the first page! LOL. I really enjoy reading your poems, mate - they are always different and refreshing! Have a great day.
Best wishes,
Chris
In your shadows
Leaking Pen
Dear Chris
Lets keep the score straight, I walk behind your shadows, you are the the gifted teacher, I am the student in learning, having said that I know the feeling about shopping, most of the time I feel like the unpaid escort to an unwanted event, last book store in my neighborhood Barns and Noble closed years ago , we do have small mom and pop shops selling recycled books, hard to find a a true gem in the mix, I am feeling my age lately I wish to retire, and have the ability to hire all the help I need for daily shores, and keep the fire in my furnace blazing.....it is a wishful dream!

The ideas library:A very early poem
THE IDEAS LIBRARY:
I thought I'd write some poetry,
Though my thinking was too blind.
So I called into the Ideas Library
To see what I could find.
I looked through rows of new ideas
but none of them appealed,
I turned and tripped and banged my head,
where ideas can be concealed.
If you bang your head extremely hard
You really do see stars.
but don't do this to loosen thoughts,
It's the riskiest method by far .
I spent the night in hospital,
Awakened every hour
I was advised to watch my step
And avoid the Ideas Tower.
I wonder if there is a shop
Where ideas and dreams are sold?
For just a small expenditure,
Put your creative mind on hold.
But if you can't afford to pay
The library is still there.
Just look around and use your mind.
Ideas are everywhere.
The interaction of the world
With vision,thought and mind,
Produces many new ideas.
Those who seek shall find.

A beautiful mind
Leaking Pen
Dear Kate
Wow love your poem, it reminds of Russell Crowe's A Beautiful Mind Oscar wining performance, you made me laugh as I banged my head to invent the stars of my thoughts, since I can not afford to buy new thoughts, and my library sadly nowhere to be found, closed down due to budget cuts, I enjoyed reading your poem, I always find your imagination quite intriguing and full of ingenuity, this is one thoughtful poem, every poet's wish list laid out in the light of day

Paul
Glad you liked it
Dear Paul
When I wrote it I had written very little and I can still remember how surprised I felt whenever I wrote a new poem.
Then in the winter I got ill for ages and was at home for weeks.I had a bad cough so I could not lie down,,
so I spent hours writing....and now try to write daily like doing exercises. My mind is more humorous than I knew
All the best
Kate
