Unforgettable...
Working part-time in a second-hand bookshop
About to close, darkness had fallen, the door opened
And in she walked.I can never forget the depth of feeling
Speaking purity and inocence in huge brown saucer-like eyes.
On her shoes two painted dragons. The spread of her lips
Held a smile wider than the sky,and when she spoke
The words broke in imprecise english. her teeth had
Perfect shine, what she said brimming with innocence
Unashamed as to meaning, never had I seen such perfection
In eyes, skin and lips, untouched. The strange thing was
Some form of recognition, some familiarity between us,
Sranger still, some recollection I had lived this moment somewhere
Before not of our own design. They say this happens, perhaps
By divine appointment, what passed unsaid between us recognised
No time, age, place color nor culture, only a passionate felt
Need to hold on to the moment, the feeling, like a rampant
Out of control praire fire . I asked myself is this but the subterfuge of fate
Were we 'born again' children of destiny from a distant past
Or mere desire that fired the blood. What surely followed from
This meeting of East/West, this Asain jewel, -was I but an old fool-
Was much pain and many goodbyes, much tears and salted cheeks
When language failed and culture's foreign face dictates. That
Was five years ago, the distance in age made no difference to the
Familiarity, the feeling which has remained with us to this day
And the extraordinary little boy-age five that has cemented our lives
To an unfathomed depth. No one, I feel, can ever deny that love
Will prevail, when all else fails. This is a tale, written,I feel sure,
In dstant genes, that had, in some other time and place recognized
Each other , brought us together, for reasons , we can never fathom.
Some would say Reincarnation, some debt you have to pay to each other.
I say not so, I am of the belief that the many genes we carry from our ancestors
Have a memory bank that meets an experience, however long ago,
The recognition and instant familiarity is what binds in our today's flesh and blood
This is an opinion, far and incomplete of understanding.....Love? perhaps.
Which, so it is said, is blind.....

I like how
this is written in the first person as experience, beautiful. I like the many ideas, thoughts you brought up fun to think about. Makes for interesting conversations the whole fate versus free will discussions. Genetic memory. Thanks for sharing. raskin
