Friends
This pathway we walked together, my friend and I
laughing, remembering, enjoying each the other’s company
his ability to laugh at life made every day a delight
and I was the better man for having known him
how many times we set the world back on course
arranging and rearranging man’s ultimate destiny
those were the days, my friend; those were the days
I walk this old pathway alone nowadays
my friend has left this place, for one perhaps better
how I miss those daily pleasantries; our time together
if you are within distance of my voice old friend
slow down a bit and wait for me
