The Desire for Talent

I wish I was poetic.
Fantastical lyrical lines flowing across the page.
Metaphors and similes, emotions and memories,
Spill effortlessly from poets pens.
I wish they would from mine.

I wish I was artistic
Sketches and paintings, sprawl over sheets.
Elegant ladies, adorable animals, picturesque landscapes,
Fill in spare time and occupy idle hands.
I wish I could occupy mine.

I wish I was musical.
Haunting melodies and cheery tunes,
Spring forth from pianos and voices,
To hang in the air and delight the audience.
To move them to tears.
I wish my mouth could do so.

I wish I was dramatic,
Fancy players prance across the stage.
Shakespeare and Commedia, monologues and plays.
Eloquent gestures, deep emotions,
Prompting visceral responses.
I wish I could create such illusions.

I wish I was a dancer
Graceful leaps and light twirls.
Extravagant costumes, parading to an audience.
Love stories immortalised in movement.
Untouchable beauty, unbelievable elegance.
I wish I possessed such poise.

I

I think you're pretty cool the way you are.
