A Wise Man from the North

Snow hung like fresh icing
Stars hanging in the sky
Sugar coated evergreens
Red cardinals sitting high

Squirrels drawn to trees
Moonbeams giving light
A basket full of red apples
On a cold winter’s night

Magic and compassion
In nature’s full array
A gunny sack of seed
A wonderland to play

Bunnies that nibble
Sparrows that sing
Deer with antlers
Joy in everything

A home for loving
Nests for sharing
A raccoon hiding
Hands for caring

Smiling in his red suit
Eyes twinkling bright
Santa Claus relaxing
To feed God’s delight

In the dark of winter
So many lose their way
But a glorious Christmas star
Showed Santa Claus the way

Santa found the reason
To stop and rest awhile
A bright star in the East
Guided him, mile by mile

There in his red suit
Sitting in God’s grace
Is the first bearded wise man
To fly from outer space

Soaring like Christmas angels
Santa’s sleigh was built to fly
Like the wise men of earth
He heard Bethlehem’s cry

Santa Claus brought hope
On that first Christmas Day
Food for all God’s creatures
So brilliantly displayed

Animals flew in
Animals hopped
To feast this Holy Night
Where Santa Claus stopped

It was in Santa’s sharing
When silver bells first jingled
Where heaven and earth
Planted love that tingled

It is far more than Santa’s presents
It is far more than Santa’s red sleigh
It is a sweet Baby Jesus in a manger
Bringing joy to the world

This Christmas Day

Merry Christmas
