A Window View

I stood on the sidewalk
In the scorching sun
Feeling like a stranger
In the midst of tongues

Tongues like magnifiers
Glasses burning into me
I was starting to ignite
With flames of misery

Pinched like a fly
That had lost its wings
I felt the clenched eyes
That hatefulness brings

I held steadfast to my cause
As I boarded the divisive bus
I took a seat in the front
When they all began to fuss

I sat among these mongers
Putting up the Lord’s fight
I became an instrument
Of a being’s human rights

It is not enough to stand
You must take a seat
Come in from the rain
Come in from the heat

Sit among tomorrow
Where life can be renewed
Look for liberty and freedom
With a window view
