A Heart's Sunset
Delicate a sunset’s wings of inner peace
Hues flickering from cathedral windows
Candlelight dancers of the golden fleece
Upon lit shores they cast bright shadows
Revelations of heaven in brushed clouds
Moving upon the wet sands of solemnity
They surrender their incandescent shrouds
As if color could change the world’s view
Like butterflies pollinating Earth’s flowers
Into moments the waves rest on the shores
Painted deserts flowing from heart showers

A Heartset
Have you ever seen the movie, The English Patient? The main character (played by Ralph Fienes) carries around this book of historical poetry and prose - really beautiful content - and reads it at different times of the day while working in the African desert. Some of the sunsets and most of the music in that movie are so romantic, and the story is really quite moving. This piece reminds me of that. If I were to be in the desert, and wanted some poetry for the soul, I would need nothing more than a book of your poems - 'classic Paysens'. I would read it at night by an open fire, and in my tent at night before going to sleep. It would be so soothing and somehow reassuring. It would set my heart right.
Best regards,
Chris
