Master Cobbler
Settled near an arch
A cobblestoned road
Leads weary travelers
To walk a path alone
Step by step they follow
Through a rose’s arbor
With their souls unlaced
To see a Master Cobbler
His leather apron is worn
Hands of strength bronzed
A tradesman of cross stitch
His face lights up the dawn
With prayerful supplication
He rebuilds souls of earth
With the pounding of nails
We see the glory of His birth
Destined by His Father’s stars
We learn how we should walk
Destined by His Father’s voice
Our salvation has been bought
“We walk by faith and not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7

I’ve been reading over
I’ve been reading over several of your recent poems and I must say, I do enjoy the allegorical tone of them, especially this one. I love the central image of the “Master Cobbler” and the supporting imagery surrounding him. “Our salvation has been bought” is such a powerful line to finish with, as it leaves the reader with a lingering afterthought. I admire what you’ve done here. J

~Walk, Just Walk~
Stuart,
Greetings new writing buddy!
Poetry is such an amazing art. It catches each individual where they are. It is my prayer, and it transcends my mind to yours, to yours, to yours. Its domain is as infinite as the mind of God.
You, new friend, must know my Master Cobbler. I love the image of walking down the cobblestone path, one at a time, to renew our souls.
My Mother reads my writing daily. "Master Cobbler", in her mind, in her heart, is my finest work. She told me that she read it over and over and over, and wept. She asked me to put a comment on my blog that she was going to keep it near her bed for daily review.
Your comment opened the door for me to honor my Mom's loving request...thanks.
Stuart you have touched me with your beautiful comments. I love poetry because it gives hands to the cold, sterile world of technology. It gives me the profound opportunity to love and be loved.
In your generosity, the Master Cobbler, has life.
Soul buddy,
Kathy
